Excerpt from passage
Each year on the second Sunday in May, Mother's Day is celebrated in the United States. Mother's Day is a day when we honor our mothers and thank them for all that they have done and still do for us. We may give Mother's Day gifts to our mothers, grandmothers, aunts or other women who have acted like mothers to us. We may also gather with family members for a meal or a party. It has been said that phone companies, florists and restaurants do the most business on Mother's Day!
Mother's Day is celebrated all over the world on different days. In the U.S., we celebrate it on the second Sunday in May. The date for our celebration of Mother's Day comes from Ancient Greece, where a festival dedicated to the Cybele, the mother of the gods, was held each year around the second week of May.
