Excerpt from passage
Thomas Jefferson was born in 1743 in
Albermarle County, Virginia. He was a rich man by the standards of that time
because he inherited 5000 acres of land from his father and his mother was
from a prominent family. He went to university, the College of William and
Mary and studies law, and became a lawyer. He wrote really good speeches but
he didn't like to speak in public. During the American Revolution he was
governor of Virginia. He was the secretary of state in the government when
George Washington was president. The "silent member" of the first Congress,
he was the person who wrote the Declaration of Independence that we still
have today. In 1786, he wrote a law that allowed people to practice whatever
religion they wanted...
