Students should read the story silently,
then answer the questions about the story that follow. Discuss the
answers to the questions with the students.
Excerpt from passage
India is one of the largest
countries in the world. There are deserts, jungles, and great rivers in
India. Some of the tallest mountains in the world are in India as well. The
only country with more people than India is China. Both China and India are
countries in Asia.
People in India speak many
different languages. There are about 16 languages spoken in India. The main
language is called Hindi. There are also many people in India that speak
English. Because there are so many different languages spoken in India,
traveling through the country is sometimes difficult.
