Herbert Clark Hoover was born August 10, 1874. Jesse and Hulda Hoover were his parents. The Hoovers had three children. Herbert was the middle child. Herbert grew up in West Branch, Iowa. His parents were Quakers. The family was raised with the same beliefs.
Herbert spent plenty of time outdoors. He really enjoyed nature. He was able to go hiking, exploring, and swimming. He learned to use a bow and arrow to hunt when he was young. He was not permitted to use a gun. The Quakers do not believe in gun use. Hoover lived in West Branch for the first eleven years of his life.
Jesse Hoover died when Herbert was six years old. The children and their mother stayed in Iowa. Hulda
