Factoring: Factoring Polynomials with More Terms

Students will continue to learn how to factor polynomials.

Objectives:

• Students will review factoring binomials and polynomials.

• Students will learn how to factor polynomials with three or more terms.

• Students will practice factoring polynomials.

Suggested Grades:

Lesson Excerpt:

II. Factoring Polynomials

- "Today we are going to learn how to factor polynomials that are a little more complicated than binomials and trinomials. You will be using some of the same steps as before, but there is an added step to consider when working with these polynomials. Here is an example."
- On Board: 14xy + 6x2y3 - 8cd + 14c2
- "Now, who can tell me some things that are different about this polynomial?"
- Use student volunteers to answer this question. Fill in any information that the students miss.
