About this worksheet
A villanelle is a nineteen-line poem built from five three-line stanzas and one four-line stanza, with two refrain lines that repeat in a fixed pattern. This worksheet teaches the parts of the form and has students plan their own, with an illustration.
The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box teaches the form with examples. Section A has eight recall questions. Section B on page 2 has four planning prompts.
Page 3 is a complete answer key. The worksheet pairs well with the Writing a Sonnet and Writing an Ode worksheets.
