About this worksheet
A postcard is a short message written on a small card, often sent while traveling. One side holds a brief, friendly message; the other side holds the address and a stamp. Because a postcard is much shorter than a letter, the writer chooses only a few important things to share. This worksheet helps students see the two sides of a postcard, then write a short message of their own.
Section A on page 1 gives eight lines and asks students to label each one as belonging on the message side or the address side. The reference box teaches the format with a beach-trip example that is not reused in any item.
Section B on page 2 asks how a postcard differs from a letter, what goes on the address side, and to write a greeting plus a short postcard message. Page 3 is a complete answer key with sample answers. The skill builds toward friendly letters and real-world writing.
How to Use This Lesson
Read the reference box aloud and point out the message side and the address side.
Complete Section A independently – have students ask ‘is this a message, or part of an address?’
Work Section B item 11 together: write a greeting and one sentence from a farm visit.
Use the answer key on page 3 for self-check; Section B answers will vary.
