How to Use These Flashcards

  1. Print single-sided. The PDF has eight cards per page — print on regular paper or cardstock.
  2. Cut out each card along the solid border lines.
  3. Fold on the dashed center line. The word ends up on one side and the definition on the other, giving you a real two-sided flashcard from a one-sided print.
  4. Quiz yourself. Read the word, recall the meaning, then flip to check — or go definition-first to practice recognition.

What’s Included

All 249 words from the InstructorWeb SAT vocabulary series, each with its part of speech and a clear, student-friendly definition. Want the words as a single reference sheet instead? See the Complete SAT Vocabulary Word List.

How to Study with Flashcards

  • Use active recall. Always try to produce the meaning before you flip the card — the effort of retrieving it is what builds memory.
  • Space it out. Review a small stack daily rather than cramming; revisit missed words more often (a simple three-pile “know / unsure / don’t know” system works well).
  • Work in both directions. Word → definition builds recognition for reading passages; definition → word builds the precise vocabulary you need for sentence-completion questions.
  • Make it stick. Say each new word in a sentence of your own — words you use are words you remember.
