About this worksheet
The i before e rule helps students spell tricky ie and ei words. This worksheet teaches the rule – i before e, except after c, or when sounding like long a – and notes that some words are exceptions.
The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box explains the rule with examples. Section A asks students to complete eight words with ie or ei. Section B on page 2 has four short-response questions.
