About this worksheet
The doubling rule tells you when to double a final consonant before adding an ending like -ing or -ed. This worksheet teaches the rule and when it does and does not apply.
The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box explains the rule with examples. Section A asks students to add -ing to eight words, doubling only when needed. Section B on page 2 has four short-response questions.
