About this worksheet
A combining form is a word part, usually from Greek or Latin, that joins with other parts to build a word, such as -ology (study of) or -phobia (fear of). This worksheet teaches four common combining forms and how their meanings reveal the meaning of the whole word.
The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box defines four combining forms with examples. Section A asks students to name the combining form or its meaning in eight words. Section B on page 2 has four short-response questions.
Page 3 is a complete answer key with answers for every item. The worksheet pairs well with the Greek and Latin Roots and Prefixes and Suffixes worksheets.
