Lesson Overview

About this worksheet

Knowing the name of a building is not the same as knowing what it is for. This sheet asks the second question: here is a book, so where would you go? Here is a letter, a doctor, a teacher, a cow.

Section B sorts the places themselves into three jobs — somewhere we learn, somewhere that helps us, somewhere we buy or send things. Six picture tiles go into three labeled boxes, two apiece, so the counts never give the sort away.

The word bank is repeated on page two, and the answer key on page three names the place beside every picture and lists the two tiles that belong in each box.

How to Use This Lesson

Print the worksheet. The word bank is in the box on page one.

Read the place names aloud together before students begin.

For Section B, cut the tiles apart along the dashed lines first.

Check the answers against page three.
