About this worksheet
Suffrage means the right to vote, and for much of American history women could not vote. This worksheet teaches the women’s suffrage movement – the suffragists, the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention, leaders Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, and the 19th Amendment that won women the vote in 1920.
Section A on page 1 gives eight clues, and students write the term each one describes. The reference box names and explains each term, so students have what they need to match.
Section B on page 2 asks what suffrage means, what happened at Seneca Falls, who Susan B. Anthony was, and what the 19th Amendment did. Page 3 is a complete answer key with sample answers. The worksheet pairs well with the Civil Rights Movement and US Constitution worksheets.
