Lesson Overview
About this worksheet
Every economy runs on two roles. A producer makes, grows, or provides a good or a service; a consumer buys or uses it, and money usually flows from the consumer to the producer. This worksheet gives young students a clear, concrete way to tell the two apart.
Section A asks students to label eight examples – a farmer growing corn, a child buying a toy, a musician performing – as producer or consumer, balanced evenly so students apply the test. The reference box teaches both roles with a baker example and points out that one person can be both at different times.
Section B is short-answer. Students define the difference, give their own producer example, classify themselves buying lunch, and state which way money flows. Page 3 is the answer key. The skill anchors later economics ideas like goods, services, and trade.
How to Use This Lesson
Read the reference box aloud and act out the baker example – making bread (producer) versus buying groceries (consumer).
Complete Section A independently – have students ask ‘making or buying?’ before each answer.
Discuss Section B item 12 (producer in the morning, consumer at night) as a quick class talk.
Use the answer key on page 3 for self-check or teacher review.
Pair with the Goods and Services Worksheet or the Needs and Wants Worksheet to build an economics mini-unit.
