About this worksheet
This worksheet is an original science reading passage about why leaves change color in the fall. It explains what chlorophyll does, why the yellow and orange were in the leaf all along, which colors are made new in the fall, and how a leaf finally lets go of its twig.
Page 2 has four multiple-choice questions, one of them about the order the fall changes happen in, and two questions to answer in a complete sentence, one of which asks students to explain why leaves drop so easily in the fall. Page 3 is the answer key.
It pairs well with a walk outside to collect leaves of different colors.
