About this worksheet
The periodic table is the chart that organizes all the known elements, arranged in order of atomic number. This worksheet introduces the vocabulary students need to read the table – element, atom, symbol, atomic number, group, period, and metal – and check their understanding.
The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box defines eight terms about the periodic table. Section A has eight clue-matching items where students write the term that fits each clue. Section B on page 2 has four short-response questions about how the table is organized.
Page 3 is a complete answer key with the term for each clue and a sample answer for every short-response question. The worksheet pairs well with the Atoms and Molecules and States of Matter worksheets.
How to Use This Lesson
