About this worksheet

Earth is wrapped in layers of gases that protect us and make weather possible. This worksheet teaches the five layers of the atmosphere in order – troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere – plus the ozone layer and air pressure.

The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box defines each layer and includes a labeled black-and-white cross-section diagram of the five layers. Section A has eight clues to match to the correct term. Section B on page 2 has four short-response questions about the atmosphere, the troposphere, the ozone layer, and air pressure.

Page 3 is a complete answer key with the term for every clue and sample short answers. The worksheet pairs well with the Weather and the Water Cycle worksheets.
