About this worksheet
The Doppler effect is the change in a sound’s pitch as its source moves toward or away from you: the waves bunch up in front, raising the pitch, and spread out behind, lowering it. This worksheet teaches the effect with terms like frequency, pitch, wavelength, and source.
The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box defines eight terms and shows a diagram of sound waves around a moving ambulance. Section A has eight clue-matching items. Section B on page 2 has four short-response questions.
Page 3 is a complete answer key. The worksheet pairs well with the Waves and Sound worksheets.
