Lesson Overview

About this worksheet

A tooth is easier to understand once a student can see inside it. The cross-section on page 1 shows the crown above the gum line and the root below it, with the three layers drawn one inside the next: enamel on the outside, dentin under it, and the pulp at the middle.

Section A is the labeling task with a shuffled word bank. Section B on page 2 asks which part each sentence describes, and Section C asks why a cavity stops being painless once it reaches the pulp, why the crown is the part that is armored, and what a person can do to protect enamel. Page 3 is the answer key.

The sheet fits a human-body unit and a dental-health week equally well.
