About this worksheet

This worksheet has a 15 by 15 word search with 15 vocabulary words about ecosystem roles and relationships: producers, predators, niches and more. The words run across, down, diagonally, and backward, and a word bank under the grid has a box to check off each word as it is found.

Page 2 checks that the words are understood, not just spotted: eight sentences to finish with a word from the bank, each written so only one word fits, and two words for the student to use in sentences of their own. Page 3 is the answer key, with the puzzle solved, where each word starts, the sentence answers and sample sentences.

It comes in two editions: a color PDF and a low-ink black-and-white PDF for everyday copying.

How to Use This Lesson

Read the words in the word bank together.

Find and circle each word in the puzzle, then check it off.

On page 2, finish each sentence with a word from the bank, then write two sentences of your own.

Check the work with the answer key on page 3.
