About this worksheet
This is the standard (grades 3-4) level in a leveled set of three The Water Cycle reading worksheets. All three share the same nonfiction topic, so a teacher can hand every reader in the room the same subject at the right level. The Basic version (grades 1-2) and the Challenge version (grades 5-6) cover how water moves through the water cycle at a different reading level.
The worksheet pairs an original nonfiction passage with five kinds of task: six comprehension questions, a four-step sequencing activity, a vocabulary-in-context item, a labeled organizer table, and two short constructed responses. The mix gives students practice locating facts, sequencing a process, using context, organizing information, and explaining with evidence.
The final page is a complete Teacher Answer Key. Objective sections show the exact answer; the organizer and explain items show concise sample responses so an aide or parent can spot-check quickly.
How to Use This Lesson
Read the reference boxes aloud and remind students to look back at the text for each answer.
Read the passage once together, then have students reread it silently.
Have students complete Section A (comprehension) and Section B (sequencing) independently.
Use the later sections for guided or paired work; model the organizer on the first row.
Use the answer key for self-check, and hand stronger or emerging readers the Basic or Challenge version.
