About This Reading Comprehension Worksheet

This 4-page reading comprehension worksheet features a short fiction story called “It’s a Mess!” Jenny’s dad says her room is a mess — but Jenny has a reason for everything: books sorted into read and to-read piles, bags labeled with friends’ names, and socks saved for a special occasion. Students discover that one person’s mess is another person’s system.

After reading the story across pages 1 and 2, students answer multiple-choice comprehension questions on page 3. The answer key on page 4 includes the correct letter for each question.

Recommended for Grades 2–4. Works well as a standalone reading activity or as a springboard for a class discussion about organization and perspective.
