About this worksheet
The narrator is the voice that tells a story. In first-person narration the narrator is a character in the story and uses I, me, my, and we; in third-person narration an outside voice names the characters using he, she, they, and their names. This worksheet helps students hear the difference and notice the pronoun clues that signal each one.
Section A on page 1 gives eight sentences and asks students to label each one first person or third person. The reference box teaches the idea with snowy-day example sentences that are not reused in any item.
Section B on page 2 asks students which words signal each kind of narration and to rewrite one sentence into third person and one into first person. Page 3 is a complete answer key. The skill builds toward point of view and narrative perspective.
How to Use This Lesson
Read the reference box aloud and underline the pronoun clues in each example.
Complete Section A independently – have students circle the I/we or he/she/they word.
Work Section B item 11 together: rewrite ‘I rode my bike to the park’ in third person.
Use the answer key on page 3 for self-check; rewrite wording may vary.
