About this worksheet

This worksheet teaches students to hear the last sound in a spoken word and write the letter that makes it. Ending sounds are harder to hear than beginning sounds, so the reference box models holding the final sound out loud.

Section A on page 1 has six pictures and Section B on page 2 has six more. Page 3 is the answer key.

It comes in two editions: a full-color PDF and a low-ink black-and-white PDF for everyday copying, both with the same answer key.

How to Use This Lesson

Read the reference box and hold the last sound of a word together.

Say each Section A picture and write the letter you hear at the end.

Do the same for Section B.

Check the answer key on page 3.
