What’s included

  • All 50 states named, with a star at each state capital
  • Each capital’s name printed beside its star
  • Washington, D.C. marked as the national capital
  • Alaska and Hawaii in boxes, a compass rose and a scale bar
  • Color and black & white versions

About these maps

The states are drawn from the U.S. Census Bureau’s state outlines in an equal-area projection, so each state’s size is true compared with the others. Alaska and Hawaii are shown in boxes at the lower left, not in their true places, and Alaska is drawn smaller than its true size.
