Twelve weeks of daily math review, in order. Each week revisits the previous week’s work on Friday, so a Friday dip usually points at the earlier skill rather than the current one.

• Week 1: Adding Unlike Fractions — finding a common denominator. Free
• Week 2: Subtracting Unlike Fractions — the same skill, taken away.
• Week 3: Order of Operations — brackets before multiplying.
• Week 4: Multiplying and Dividing Larger Numbers — two-digit by two-digit.
• Week 5: Mixed Numbers — fractions greater than one.
• Week 6: Week 6 Review — all five weeks, mixed.
• Week 7: Fraction Operations Together — adding and subtracting in the same sitting.
• Week 8: Long Division — three-digit dividends and two-digit divisors.
• Week 9: Expressions with Brackets — four terms, larger numbers.
• Week 10: Multiplying Larger Numbers — three digits by one, and two by two.
• Week 11: Place Value and Number Sense — six-digit numbers in every form.
• Week 12: Week 12 Review — weeks 7 to 11, mixed.

5th Grade ELA Morning Work

Twelve weeks of daily reading and language review. Each sheet is four word-work items and two written items; Wednesday and Friday add a short passage with two questions about it.

• Week 1: Words We Often Misspell — the spellings that trip up adults too. Free
• Week 2: Homophones and Usage — the word pairs a spellchecker cannot catch.
• Week 3: Prefixes, Suffixes and Endings — how an ending changes a word’s spelling and its job.
• Week 4: Plurals, Possessives and Doubling — one, more than one, and belonging to.
• Week 5: Words Built from Other Words — compound words, contractions, and the endings that change a base word.
• Week 6: Week 6 Review — all five weeks, mixed.
• Week 7: R-Controlled Vowels in Longer Words — ar, or, er, ir and ur inside multi-syllable words.
• Week 8: Diphthongs — oi, oy, ou and ow.
• Week 9: Vowel Teams — ai, ay, ee and ea.
• Week 10: Endings and Base Words — what stays and what changes.
• Week 11: Words We Still Misspell — the last of the hard list.
• Week 12: Week 12 Review — weeks 7 to 11, mixed.

How to use morning work

Print a packet once at the start of the week and hand out one sheet a day. Each sheet is six items and takes about 10–15 minutes. Students can start without instruction, so the sheets cover the part of the morning when you are taking attendance, chasing notes and settling the room.

Mark the week as a set on Friday rather than page by page. Five short sheets on the same skills show you a pattern; one sheet on its own mostly shows you whether a child was awake.
