4th Grade Math Morning Work

Twelve weeks of daily math review, in order. Each week revisits the previous week’s work on Friday, so a Friday dip usually points at the earlier skill rather than the current one.

• Week 1: Multiplying Larger Numbers — two-digit by one-digit. Free
• Week 2: Division with Remainders — dividing, and what is left over.
• Week 3: Place Value to a Million — six-digit place value.
• Week 4: Comparing Large Numbers — six-digit comparison and counting by 100s.
• Week 5: Adding Fractions — like denominators, then a first look at unlike.
• Week 6: Week 6 Review — all five weeks, mixed.
• Week 7: Two Digits by Two Digits — the long multiplication algorithm.
• Week 8: Dividing Larger Numbers — three-digit dividends, with and without a remainder.
• Week 9: Subtracting Fractions — like denominators, then unlike.
• Week 10: Order of Operations — brackets, and what comes first without them.
• Week 11: Numbers to a Million — six-digit place value and comparison.
• Week 12: Week 12 Review — weeks 7 to 11, mixed.

4th Grade ELA Morning Work

Twelve weeks of daily reading and language review. Each sheet is four word-work items and two written items; Wednesday and Friday add a short passage with two questions about it.

• Week 1: Commonly Misspelled Words — the words fourth graders misspell most. Free
• Week 2: Homophones and Contractions — words that sound alike, and apostrophes.
• Week 3: Adding Endings — dropping the e and changing y to i.
• Week 4: Soft c, Soft g and Compound Words — spelling patterns, and words built from two words.
• Week 5: Plurals and Doubling — making words plural, and doubling before an ending.
• Week 6: Week 6 Review — all five weeks, mixed.
• Week 7: Words Adults Misspell Too — the spellings that stay hard.
• Week 8: R-Controlled Vowels in Longer Words — ar, or, er, ir and ur past the one-syllable word.
• Week 9: Diphthongs and Long Vowel Teams — ou, ow, oa and the sounds they make.
• Week 10: Vowel Teams — ai, ay, ee and ea in longer words.
• Week 11: Longer Words to Spell — soft letters and silent ones.
• Week 12: Week 12 Review — weeks 7 to 11, mixed.

How to use morning work

Print a packet once at the start of the week and hand out one sheet a day. Each sheet is six items and takes about 10–15 minutes. Students can start without instruction, so the sheets cover the part of the morning when you are taking attendance, chasing notes and settling the room.

Mark the week as a set on Friday rather than page by page. Five short sheets on the same skills show you a pattern; one sheet on its own mostly shows you whether a child was awake.
