About this worksheet
A unit rate tells how much there is for exactly one unit, such as miles per hour or dollars per pound. This worksheet builds fluency dividing to find a unit rate and then applying unit rates to speed, cost, and better-buy comparisons.
The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box shows how to divide so the second quantity becomes one, with two worked examples. Section A has six rates to simplify to a unit rate. Section B on page 2 has four word problems, including comparing two package prices to find the better buy.
Page 3 is a complete answer key with the division for each item and the setup for each word problem. The worksheet pairs well with the Ratio Word Problems and Percent Word Problems worksheets.
