About this worksheet
Rounding to the nearest 10 and 100 is the gateway estimation skill that supports mental math, comparing quantities, and checking the reasonableness of an answer. This worksheet builds fluency by separating the two targets in Sections A and B and then mixing them in Section C, so students learn to apply the rule when the target is named in the prompt rather than the directions.
A reference box at the top of page 1 walks through two worked examples side by side: 73 rounded to the nearest 10 (round down to 70) and 248 rounded to the nearest 100 (round down to 200). Neither number appears in any assessed item.
Page 3 is a complete answer key that lists every rounded value, organized by section in a compact two-column grid for fast student self-check or aide spot-check.
How to Use This Lesson
Warm up by reading the reference box aloud and modeling both rounding targets on a whiteboard.
