About this worksheet
This worksheet teaches students to subtract within ten by crossing out the objects that go away and counting the objects that are left. The crossing-out is printed, so the picture shows exactly what take away means before any numeral is written.
Section A on page 1 has seven picture subtractions starting from four to nine. Section B on page 2 has seven more, starting from seven to ten. Page 3 is the answer key.
It comes in two editions: a full-color PDF and a low-ink black-and-white PDF for everyday copying, both with the same answer key.
How to Use This Lesson
Read the reference box and show a group of objects with some taken away.
Count the objects that are not crossed out in each Section A item and write the number.
Do the same for the larger groups in Section B.
Check the answer key on page 3.
