About this worksheet
Finding a percent of a number is a key skill for discounts, tips, and data. This worksheet teaches students to change a percent to a decimal and multiply, then to apply it to real situations such as a sale price, the fraction of a class, and a restaurant tip.
The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box shows the decimal-and-multiply method with two worked examples and a fraction shortcut. Section A has six percent-of-a-number problems. Section B on page 2 has four word problems about a jacket discount, girls in a class, a tip, and home-team fans.
