Solving One-Step Equations with Decimals
Solving one-step equations with decimals uses the same inverse operation strategy as with integers. To solve x + 1.5 = 4.2, subtract 1.5 from both sides to get x = 2.7. The lesson builds on the balance concept and applies it to decimal values students encounter in real-world contexts.
The seven-page lesson walks through worked examples covering addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with decimals. Students complete 20 practice problems and check their work using the answer key.
How to Use This Lesson
