About this worksheet

Multiplying decimals works just like multiplying whole numbers, with one extra step: count the decimal places in both factors and place the decimal point in the product. This worksheet builds that skill from quick practice products to money, measurement, and distance word problems.

The reference box on page 1 shows how to place the decimal point with two worked examples. Section A on page 1 gives six products to compute, mixing decimal-by-whole-number and decimal-by-decimal problems. Section B on page 2 has four word problems about cost, length, weight, and distance.

Page 3 is a complete answer key that shows each product and the setup for every word problem. The worksheet pairs well with the Adding and Subtracting Decimals and Rounding Decimals worksheets.
