About this worksheet
This worksheet has 9 multiplication problems written in columns, the way they are solved by hand. A dashed box above each digit of the top number that can take a carry holds the carried digits, with room for two: the tens row’s carries go above the ones row’s, which are crossed out first. A light grid under each problem keeps every digit in its place-value column, and a worked example (58 × 37) shows the boxes in use. Every problem has two rows and a sum, and the key prints the placeholder 0 at the end of the second row.
Page 3 has the three word problems. Page 4 is the answer key. It shows every carried digit above its column as well as each answer and both rows, and each word problem worked in columns, so a teacher can see whether a wrong answer came from a fact, a carry or a missing 0.
It comes in two editions: a full-color PDF and a low-ink black-and-white PDF for everyday copying.
