About this worksheet

Multiplication facts in the 6-12 range are where fluency typically stalls. This worksheet practices those facts in four formats so students see that the same fact looks the same whether read left-to-right, with a missing factor, or stacked vertically.

A reference box at the top of page 1 previews three strategies students can lean on when a fact feels hard: for any factor times 9, subtract one group from the times-10 product; for any factor times 11, add one group to the times-10 product; and for the squares (7 x 7, 8 x 8, 9 x 9) memorize them as anchors. The worked example, 9 x 6 = 54, uses the decade-shift strategy and does not appear in any assessed item.

Page 3 is a complete answer key that lists the product for every section. The vertical-multiplication sub-section shows both factors and the product, which makes it easy for students or aides to spot the source of any miscount.

How to Use This Lesson

Warm up by reading the reference box aloud and modeling the decade-shift example.

Time Section A as a 3-minute fluency check if students are ready.

Use Section B (missing factor) for guided pair-share; ask students which fact family they recalled.

Use Section C (vertical) for independent practice; remind students that the factors can be written in either order.

Use Section D (word problems) as a 5-minute exit ticket.

Use the answer key on page 3 for student self-check or aide spot-check.
