About this worksheet
Reading a finished bar graph and building one are different jobs. Reading asks what a bar means; building asks where the bar stops, which is where a scale that counts by twos starts to matter.
Page one carries a reference on scale and bar spacing, a table of five games and the votes each one got, and an empty frame with the scale printed and a slot marked for every game. Three of the five values land between gridlines, so the student has to work out what half a step looks like rather than reading a number off a line.
Section B asks six questions about the table and the finished graph; Section C asks three that need a written explanation. The answer key on page three shows the same frame with the bars drawn.
How to Use This Lesson
Print the worksheet. Page one carries the table and the empty frame.
Point out that the scale counts by twos before students begin.
Have students draw all five bars, then answer Section B.
Compare the finished graph with the one on page three.
