About this worksheet
This worksheet has 6 long division problems. A worked example (857 divided by 6) shows every step written out. Each problem sits in the division bracket above a light grid, one square per digit, so every product and difference stays in its place-value column. Under every problem is a two-step check: multiply the quotient by the divisor, then add the remainder to get the dividend back, with room beside the grid to work it out.
The reference box at the top of page 1 explains the method. Page 3 is the answer key, and it shows every problem solved step by step: the quotient, each product and difference, and every digit brought down, so a student can find the exact step where an answer went wrong.
It comes in two editions: a full-color PDF and a low-ink black-and-white PDF for everyday copying.
