Classifying and Measuring Angles
An angle is formed by two rays that share a common endpoint called the vertex. The lesson introduces the four main angle types: acute (less than 90°), right (exactly 90°), obtuse (between 90° and 180°), and straight (exactly 180°). Students learn to identify each type and measure angles using a protractor.
The six-page lesson walks through angle classification and measurement with worked examples. Students complete 20 practice problems identifying and measuring angles, then check their work using the answer key on page 6.
How to Use This Lesson
1. Introduce angle types and vocabulary (pages 1–2). Use diagrams to show acute, right, obtuse, and straight angles.
2. Demonstrate how to measure angles with a protractor (pages 3–4). Practice classifying angles by measure.
3. Assign the 20 practice problems (page 5) independently. Review answers using the key on page 6.
