About this worksheet
The greatest common factor (GCF) is the largest number that divides two numbers evenly, and the least common multiple (LCM) is the smallest number that is a multiple of both. This worksheet practices finding each and choosing the right one for a word problem.
The reference box on page 1 explains both terms with a worked GCF example and a worked LCM example. Section A on page 1 gives six problems, a mix of GCF and LCM. Section B on page 2 has four word problems that ask students to decide whether to find the GCF or the LCM.
Page 3 is a complete answer key that names the GCF or LCM for every item. The worksheet pairs well with the Factors and Multiples and Prime and Composite Numbers worksheets.

Read the reference box and compare the GCF and the LCM.
Find the GCF or LCM for the six items in Section A on page 1.
Solve the four word problems in Section B on page 2, choosing GCF or LCM.
