About this worksheet
This worksheet has 18 addition problems written in columns, the way they are solved by hand. A dashed box above each column that can take a carried 1 holds the carry, so the regrouping is written down instead of kept in the student’s head. A worked example at the top shows the boxes in use.
Page 3 has the two word problems. Page 4 is the answer key, and it shows every carry above its column as well as each answer, so a teacher can see whether a wrong answer came from the regrouping or the facts.
It comes in two editions: a full-color PDF and a low-ink black-and-white PDF for everyday copying.
