Lesson Overview
About this worksheet
Division-fact fluency rests on multiplication-fact fluency. This worksheet practices that connection: every quotient students compute can be checked against a matching multiplication fact in the same fact family.
A reference box at the top of page 1 demonstrates the strategy on a non-reused example, 56 divided by 7. Students learn to ask ‘seven times what equals fifty-six?’ rather than counting up by sevens. The matching fact 56 divided by 8 = 7 follows from the same fact family.
Page 3 is a complete answer key that lists every quotient in a compact two-column grid, organized by section for fast student self-check or aide spot-check.
How to Use This Lesson
Warm up by reading the reference box aloud and modeling the matching-fact strategy on one Section A item.
Time Section A as a 3-minute fluency check if students are ready.
Use Section B (missing number) for guided practice; ask students to name the matching multiplication fact aloud.
Use Section C for independent practice across mixed quotients.
Use Section D (word problems) as a 5-minute exit ticket.
Use the answer key on page 3 for student self-check or aide spot-check.
