About this worksheet
Who and whom both refer to people but do different jobs: who is a subject that does the action (like he or she), and whom is an object that receives the action or follows a preposition (like him or her). A quick test settles most cases – if you could answer with he, use who; if you could answer with him, use whom. This worksheet gives students rule-based practice plus a memory trick.
The reference box and Section A are on page 1. Section A has eight sentences, and students circle the correct word, who or whom, in each one. The reference box teaches the rule with different example sentences, so the eight items stay independent of the model.
Section B on page 2 has four short-response questions, including writing a question that correctly uses whom. Page 3 is a complete answer key with sample answers. The skill builds on subject and object pronouns and relative pronouns.
