About this worksheet

The Oxford comma, or serial comma, is placed right before ‘and’ or ‘or’ in a list of three or more items, and it can prevent confusion. This worksheet teaches the rule and has students add the comma to lists.

The reference box and Section A are on page 1. The reference box states the rule with examples. Section A has eight lists to rewrite with the Oxford comma. Section B on page 2 has four short questions.

Page 3 is a complete answer key. The worksheet pairs well with the Commas in a Series and Comma Splices worksheets.

How to Use This Lesson

Read the reference box and review the Oxford comma rule.

Rewrite each list in Section A on page 1, adding the comma.

Answer the four short questions in Section B on page 2.
