Lesson Overview

About this worksheet

Plural nouns combine a small handful of rules with a short list of irregulars, and this worksheet practices both. The reference box at the top of page 1 lays out the four most common rules with one example each so students can refer back as they work.

Section A presents 12 singular nouns one at a time. Students write the plural form on the line. Section B raises the difficulty: students read a full sentence and rewrite the underlined singular noun as its plural form, so they have to apply the rules in context rather than in isolation.

Page 2 is a complete answer key in a compact two-column grid. The included irregulars are leaves, men, teeth, wolves, and deer (unchanged).

How to Use This Lesson

Read the reference box aloud and ask students to add -s, -es, or change y to i for three nouns you say (e.g., chair, brush, story).

Have students work Section A independently as a quick warm-up.

For Section B, model item 13 aloud so students hear how the plural fits into the sentence.

Use the answer key on page 2 for self-check or aide spot-check.

Pair with the Common and Proper Nouns Worksheet for additional noun practice.
