About this worksheet
An interrogative pronoun is a pronoun used to ask a question: who, whom, whose, which, and what. Each one stands in for the answer you are asking about. This worksheet helps students spot interrogative pronouns in questions.
Section A on page 1 gives eight questions – Who is knocking? Which of these is yours? Whose are these boots? – and asks students to write the interrogative pronoun each one uses. The reference box teaches all five with a ‘Who took my pencil?’ example.
Section B on page 2 asks what an interrogative pronoun is, to list three of them, which one asks about a person, and to write a question using which. Page 3 is a complete answer key with sample answers. The skill joins the family of pronoun lessons.
How to Use This Lesson
Read the reference box aloud and ask a few questions using who, which, and what.
Complete Section A independently – have students find the question word that stands for the answer.
Discuss using who for people and which to choose among things.
Use the answer key on page 3 for self-check.
Pair with the Pronouns Worksheet or the Relative Pronouns Worksheet.
