About this worksheet
An action word tells what someone is doing. Before a child can find the verb in a written sentence, they can name what they see happening in a picture, which is the same idea one step earlier.
Sections A and B give seven pictures and a seven-word bank, so the child chooses and copies rather than inventing a spelling. Section C then asks for a whole sentence about three of those pictures; more than one sentence is right, and the key says so instead of printing one as though it were the only answer.
The answer key on page three gives the action word for every picture and a sample sentence for each of the three prompts.
How to Use This Lesson
Print the worksheet. The word bank is in the box on page one.
Act out two or three of the words together before students begin.
For Section C, remind students that a sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a period.
