What is in this week
Figurative Language and Tone — what the writer means, and how the writer feels. Every day is one focused task, four items, with the rule printed at the top of the page.
- Monday — Name the device: simile, metaphor, personification, or hyperbole.
- Tuesday — Name the device: simile, metaphor, personification, or hyperbole.
- Wednesday — What is the tone? Write one word.
- Thursday — Which choice creates the tone asked for?
- Friday — Correct or incorrect? Write one word.
How to use it
Print the packet once and hand out one page a day, or project it. Students can start before the lesson begins because the rule they need is on the page. Friday returns to week 5, so a Friday dip points at the earlier skill rather than this week’s. Mark them together on the board; these are a warm-up, not something to collect.
