What is in this week

Punctuating Quotations and Titles — the marks that show whose words these are. Every day is one focused task, four items, with the rule printed at the top of the page.

  • Monday — Rewrite each sentence with the missing punctuation.
  • Tuesday — Quotation marks or italics? Write your answer.
  • Wednesday — Quotation marks or italics? Write your answer.
  • Thursday — Direct or indirect quotation? Write one word.
  • Friday — Which voice suits the purpose? Write active or passive.

How to use it

Print the packet once and hand out one page a day, or project it. Students can start before the lesson begins because the rule they need is on the page. Friday returns to week 3, so a Friday dip points at the earlier skill rather than this week’s. Mark them together on the board; these are a warm-up, not something to collect.
