Bell Ringers · Grade 8 · Week 4 of 12
8th Grade ELA Bell Ringers — Week 4
Five short warm-ups for 8th grade ELA: the marks that show whose words these are. 20 items with a full answer key — one focused task a day, five to ten minutes at the start of the lesson.

What is in this week
Punctuating Quotations and Titles — the marks that show whose words these are. Every day is one focused task, four items, with the rule printed at the top of the page.
- Monday — Rewrite each sentence with the missing punctuation.
- Tuesday — Quotation marks or italics? Write your answer.
- Wednesday — Quotation marks or italics? Write your answer.
- Thursday — Direct or indirect quotation? Write one word.
- Friday — Which voice suits the purpose? Write active or passive.
How to use it
Print the packet once and hand out one page a day, or project it. Students can start before the lesson begins because the rule they need is on the page. Friday returns to week 3, so a Friday dip points at the earlier skill rather than this week’s. Mark them together on the board; these are a warm-up, not something to collect.
