7th Grade Math Bell Ringers

Twelve weeks of math warm-ups, in order. Each week takes one strand across five days; Friday returns to the week before.

• Week 1: Operations with Integers — adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing signed numbers. Free
• Week 2: Proportional Relationships — unit rate, the constant of proportionality and solving proportions.
• Week 3: Percent Applications — tax, tip, discount and percent change.
• Week 4: Expressions: Distribute and Combine — expanding parentheses, collecting like terms and factoring.
• Week 5: Two-Step Equations and Inequalities — solving in two steps, and reading the solution set.
• Week 6: Probability — simple, complementary and compound probability.
• Week 7: Circles — circumference and area, forwards and backwards.
• Week 8: Angle Relationships — complementary, supplementary, vertical and triangle angles.
• Week 9: Scale Drawings — scale factors, and moving between drawing and actual size.
• Week 10: Surface Area and Volume of Prisms — prisms and cubes, and working back to a missing dimension.
• Week 11: Random Sampling — using a sample to estimate, and judging whether it is fair.
• Week 12: Comparing Two Populations — differences in center measured against spread.

7th Grade ELA Bell Ringers

Twelve weeks of grammar, usage, mechanics and vocabulary. Each day is four items on one skill, with the rule printed above them.

• Week 1: Phrases and Clauses — the building blocks of a sentence, and how they combine. Free
• Week 2: Misplaced and Dangling Modifiers — putting descriptions next to what they describe.
• Week 3: Semicolons and Colons — the two marks that do what a comma cannot.
• Week 4: Verb Tense Consistency — keeping time steady, and shifting it on purpose.
• Week 5: Prefixes and Suffixes — the parts that change a word’s meaning and its job.
• Week 6: Connotation and Word Choice — the feeling a word carries beyond its definition.
• Week 7: Pronoun-Antecedent Agreement — matching a pronoun to the noun it stands for.
• Week 8: Coordinate Adjectives — when two adjectives need a comma between them.
• Week 9: Transitions — signaling how one idea relates to the next.
• Week 10: Analogies and Word Relationships — naming the relationship, then completing the pair.
• Week 11: Sentence Variety — changing how a sentence opens and how long it runs.
• Week 12: Commonly Misused Pairs — word pairs that sound close and are not interchangeable.

What a bell ringer is

One focused task at the start of a class period, done before the lesson begins. It is not a worksheet with three sections and it is not a test — it is four questions on a single skill, with the rule printed above them so students can start while you take attendance.

Every packet here is five days. Monday to Thursday sit on that week’s focus; Friday returns to the previous week, so a Friday dip tells you which skill has faded rather than which one is new.
