Five short warm-ups for 3rd grade ELA: the two words every sentence must have. 20 items with a full answer key — one focused task a day, five to ten minutes at the start of the lesson.
What is in this week
Nouns and Verbs — the two words every sentence must have. Every day is one focused task, four items, with the rule printed at the top of the page.
- Monday — Write the action verb in each sentence.
- Tuesday — Write the noun that tells who or what the sentence is about.
- Wednesday — Write common or proper for the noun in capital letters.
- Thursday — Write the action verb in each sentence.
- Friday — Write the end mark each sentence needs.
How to use it
Print the packet once and hand out one page a day, or project it. Students can start before the lesson begins because the rule they need is on the page. Friday returns to week 3, so a Friday dip points at the earlier skill rather than this week’s. Mark them together on the board; these are a warm-up, not something to collect.
